Lingo

In Shoreham we have many different words for many different things.
Here is a sneak peak into our lingo that we use so you can understand a little bit about how we speak.

Dingas, Dingbats, Bats, Shoreza or The drive = Shoreham.

Boh, Boh factor = we cant be bothered.

Levels = is the measurement of boh e.g The higher your levels are means that you can't be bothered and the lower they are mean you can be bothere.

Mainge, Monsh, Moinch, L A Monshh = Disgusting or feral usually referring to the female species

Frofin = Very excited.

Judoo = Due to levels.

Drenoes = Adrenaline rush.

Slippery Suee, Loose Lee = 2 very hot mums.

Let & Rit = Left & Right.

Trampy = Go for a bounce on the trampoline.

The Wacker = Skate Spot

Flin Ding = Flinders.

Roif = 1st reef.

Noes = Meanoes.

Sommies = Sometimes.

We've pretty much started a language of our own and all this lingo first started off in dingas so if you hear any other mainges using our words you know they copied it from us and they cannot claim it to be there own. (speacially some toorak monshes)

R.I.P an Obituary for a friend.

Interesting, and sadly rather true.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but over bearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a class mate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or a Panadol to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home, but the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was actually hot! She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

His four step brothers did however survive;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim

Not many attended the funeral because so few realized he was gone.
Rest in peace my friend.

My First Bells Experience

Day 1 Thursday 8th of April:

It was a cold rugged day in Melbourne but there was nothing short of utter anticipation floating around in the Marsters household as I was eagerly awaiting Wade (late night) Cochrane's appearance to pick me up to begin the 2 and a bit hour drive to Torquay. Randomly, ron doh, nell, joey and bonnie rocked up to start a convoy. After a good hour or so of waiting for Wade we were finally underway. After a little sleep halfway followed by a constant nag about "when can we stop at the bottleo" and "fuck wade your a tightass I just want a beer", we finally found 10 empire avenue.

Upon arrival I was pleasantly confronted with three semi-drunk monopoly tycoons(cal, mitch and joel). Soon after getting settled, the beers began to flow and the tunes began to crank. While Joel, Cal and Wade were inside the reef party the remaining of us were planning our entrance into the illustrious reef party. Wade manufactured a brilliant plan of walking out putting a reef hat on my head and walking in.(who would have thought Wade could think of something so brilliant) Surprisingly, it worked. There we were all of the crew in the party and the free drinks were going down a treat, vodka red bulls, coronas, even my favourite Heineken in there. After a rugged night we got home at which i have no recollection how that occurred. Home was followed by a few more beers bit of Jeff Buckley and Macy Grey to put us in the mood for bed. Well whilst in bed apparently my body wasn't in the mood for sleeping. I do not know how I managed to gather enough momentum to break through the barrier of the bunk bed, but I did and boy was it a big fall down to the ground. Luckily I landed on Cal's skateboard taking the brunt of my fall which we could say saved my life or at least the remainder of my head.

Something to ponder.

Heres a famous theory from a greek academic Aristole in regards to people that are considered 'different', or in a more modern society 'indie'.

"Suppose, then, that all men were sick or deranged, save one or two of them who were healthy and of right mind. It would then be the latter two who would be thought to be sick and deranged and the former not!"

Meaning anyone not conforming to the normal will be considered weird. Purely because he or she does not go with the trot of the sheep he is meant to follow.

What a weird un-written social law to develope, although it has been around for centuries and will continues to prosper in society.

every one has been fishing it may have been for trout in the river or salmon in the bay or chicks at the pub but their is no one better than BILLDANCE

Being your best.

Whilst out on daily adventures being surrounded by people and communicating different idea's, I'm often amazed at the lack passion I find.

Everyone has their vision of "the dream". And it is becoming increasingly obvious to me that people are loosing sight of that image. Now I'm not saying to draft up unrealistic ideas of your future. I will be the first to add that dreaming must also involve some reality, but give yourself something to chase down.

Nearly all rich and powerful people are not notably talented, educated, charming or good-looking. they become rich and powerful by wanting to be rich and powerful. Ever noticed that the cleverest people at school are not those who make it in life? Your vision of where or who you want to be is the greatest asset you have. Without having a goal it's difficult to score.

All of us want to be good at what we do, but how good do we really want to be?
-Quite good
-Very good
-The best in our field
-Or the best in the world

Talent helps, but it won't take you as far as a passionate drive towards your goal.
Everybody wants to be good, but not many are prepared to make the sacrifices it takes to be great. To many people, being nice in order to be liked is more important. There's equal merit in that, but you must not confuse being good with being liked.

Most people are looking for a solution, a way to become good.
There is no instant solution, the only way is to learn through mistakes and experiences.

You will become whoever you want to be.

Find it, and grind for it.

Love Mitch

We're not hear to make friends

A quick introduction to start off, I am 'The Editor' and will be more than happy to respond to any letters or issues people want to discuss on the blog. From sex to parties to global conflicts to Australian foreign policy any topic or contentious conversation, we will be more than happy to discuss.

Due to popular demand the first issue I will be discussing is the relationship between us (males) and the opposite sex.

At such a young age it seems almost humorous how engulfed we become by the female race. For some strange and un-explainable reason when a woman enters our life who has that 'something',we become entrenched in a web of ambiguous emotions which seem to run through our body as if you have lost all sense of control. Now this is where the hard hitting cold-hard facts are, i'm going to tell it how it is(that's how we do it at 'That's fine!') There isn't the perfect girl out there for you. We as a collective have all experienced this feeling. What I have discovered over the past few months is that being young and enjoying the freedom is the best thing that anyone can ask for. Women are the cause of alot of problems within friendship groups and at this age, it is simply, not worth it. They not only toy with your emotions and feelings, it is when it starts to hamper your relationships with friends when you know how far and not worth the effort it is. From personal experience leaving a relationship is not only one of the worst things that can happen, but can also be one of the best. "As one door closes another one opens", and this is one hundred percent true in any case. The friendships that I have made would not have been possible being tied down in a relationship. Now I'm not here to hate on people in relationships because I am in all honesty very jealous of that, however what I do ask is that us as a group of friends pledge never to let girls come between friendships.

I think we're letting girls off to lightly here as well, the majority of them have a hidden agenda and to move into a colloquial tone they enjoying 'fucking' us around.

Women tend to be intuitave global thinkers. They consider millions of alternatives of different information in making decisions, whereas men are generally more spontaneous. Women come to and consider problems all at once, they are generally pessimistic compared to men, always looking for the negative implications of a relationships instead of focusing on positives within their lives. Women are prone to becoming overwhelmed with complexities that 'exisit' or may have been invented only in their minds.

Publius Ovidius Naso (Ovid), a man from Rome's "Golden Age" 43-bc - 18ad wrote witty love poetryThe ironic thing is that even at the time before christ, men were still saying similar things to what I have been writing here. 'Time the devourer of everything, do not let an opportunity go by because of an anchor around your neck'.

'Might as well remove those doubts. Fun is what it's all about' (the oaqui)

The Editor.

a SOCIAL CLUB

what is a social club? a social club refers to a group or a place where they meet, generally formed around a common interest, occupation or activity, (e.g. surfing, listening to good music or playing good music, rolling up your jeans, having a quite beverage and so on). look at what it did for this group of unspeakably talented musicians. have a listen, you will not be disappointed.

hello all,

seems like the sun and warmth have left us and we are now being met with howling southwesterly winds and junky surf......much to the delight of the dedicated surfer (aka mitch "commanda keen" lorkin) along with some of the social club crew, like wade "late night" cochrane, luke "surfy ado" adams, myself and some other die hards who were ready to brave the wintery conditions. along with some bog rails, poo mans and some party waves (thanks to commanda keens keeness to take every wave, whether or not someone was already on it, ike myself, laughs), it was a good fun enjoyable session with all the lads. joel "the individual" van den eynden was missing, most likely creepin on facebook along with dan "mood swing" macca who was missing in action due to a back injury caused by....well im not entirely sure, but he claims football injury. latest update is he will be back in the water shredding in the next few days. ethan "surfy eth" marsters was busy with his head in the books, or so he claims. hopefully we will see more of the club in the water soon so dust of those 4"3's and get out there.

piece to you all, cal

Greg Wilson; epitome of funky/cosmic disco

Greg Wilson is a Dj and producer predominantly associated with the early electro scenes in Manchester. He was born in Wallasey in Mereyside in 1960, and began Djing at the age of 15. To begin with, Wilson was known for playing jazz and funk records.

With his primary interest being Black music, Wilson's nights at the Wigan Pier mixed soul, funk and disco. But it was in his championing of the early electro records that he became famous - whilst working at Wigan Pier, he was offered an ailing Wednesday night residency at Legend in Manchester and was soon pulling in crowds to listen to the new sound of groups like the D-train and Afrika Bambaataa.

Returning to the DJ scene in 2003, the Music Is Better Night he played in Manchester that year proved to be a catalyst for Wilson, who has been in demand from club nights across the UK ever since. Such is his popularity with a newfound legion of fans young enough to be his children, Wilson released the popular Credit to the Edit in the summer of 2005. He has also released a number of disco re-edits on the Tirk label. Wilson is also documenting the rise of electro on his website. On January 17th 2009, BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix broadcasted a mix by Greg Wilson - it has since received great reviews.

His music is guaranteed to set fire to any dance floor. Hit the link up bellow for a listen

23 dirtiest seconds of 8 minute abs.

Found this looking around the other day. I figured out why its so amusing.
Watch the clip once, its funny. Then after you have watched, play it again without looking at the screen. He puts the ideas in your head.

Moving into autumn.

As the days grow shorter, the air grows crisper and the trees lose their leaves, Autumn shows us the majesty of maturity and the beauty and ease of letting go. Nature provides a time to draw all energy inwards, to cast off what is no longer needed and prepare for the stillness and modesty of Winter.

As we learn to live a natural life, body, mind and spirit can be nurtured in ways that are supported by the season. Activities, food and relaxation naturally change from one season to the next and when we fall into step with this change, we thrive.

Get outdoors before it gets too cold.

Rip Curl Pro 2010

Let's start off by writing about the best surfer in the game right now. Whom according to most; is the most progressive and explosive surfer to have fibreglass between his feet.
Jordy Smith born Feb. 11, 1988 is a South African professional surfer competing on the WCT. In 2007 Smith won surfing's "WQS", the second-tier tour which leads to qualification for the "world championship tour".

Apart from all the facts, he fuckin rips. So get behind him.
Check the above clip for confirmation of his ability to ride a stick.

Good luck for 2010 Jordy

First step shoot for JOSH JAKQ

Joshy overwhelmed! haha

Hows the pins on the left?

Heres some sneaky behind the scenes shots from Sunday@ Joshy's shoot.
It started off pretty slow, but after a few drinks got mixed up and the tunes went on too set the mood, things started to flow.

We had the shoot to showcase his character, and things got fresh. Two of the hotties throwing themselves at Joshy. The whole shoot was amazing. Jackie Adams was working her magic. If you you ever want to see someone master an art check her out: (http://www.jaclynadams.com/)

For now, show love.
And i hope you receive it.
